How to Use Klokkit

A step-by-step guide to getting the most out of your time tracking.

1

Create an Account

Click "Get Started" and sign up with your email or Google account. A default workspace is created automatically so you can start tracking immediately.

2

Set Up Workspaces

Navigate to Workspaces and create workspaces for each project, client, or activity you want to track separately.

  • Daily Target Hours — how many hours you aim to work per day
  • Break Time Hours — optional break time to account for
  • Overall Target Hours — optional total hour cap (useful for contracts)
  • Icon & Color — personalize each workspace for quick recognition
3

Clock In & Out

Go to Clock In/Out or use the button on your dashboard. Select a workspace and click Clock In to start your session. The live timer begins immediately with seconds precision.

When you're done, click Clock Out. The app calculates your total duration and records the entry automatically.

4

Pause & Resume for Breaks

While a session is running, hit Pauseto temporarily stop the timer during breaks, lunch, or interruptions. A live break duration counter tracks how long you've been paused.

Click Resume to continue. All accumulated break time is preserved and shown in your entry breakdown when you clock out.

5

Run Multiple Sessions Simultaneously

Klokkit supports concurrent tracking — you can have active sessions running in multiple workspaces at the same time. Switching workspaces does not stop other running timers.

Each workspace maintains its own independent play/pause state, making it easy to juggle client projects simultaneously.

6

Track Your Progress

Your Dashboard shows a real-time daily progress bar, active sessions, overtime indicators, and per-workspace breakdowns.

The Activity Heatmap on your dashboard displays a 365-day GitHub-style grid of your work history, streak count, and target hit-rate at a glance.

7

Edit & Manage Entries

Made a mistake? Visit History to edit clock-in/out times, change workspaces for an entry, or delete incorrect records. Break time breakdowns are visible directly in the entry detail view.

8

Customize Settings

In Settings, configure your home timezone, week start day, and default workspace. Your timezone ensures all entries are recorded correctly regardless of where you are.

9

Instant Clocking via NFC & iOS Shortcuts

Want to clock in/out without opening your browser? Open your workspace settings to generate a secure Workspace API Key.

  • 1-Tap Apple Shortcut: Download our ready-made iOS Shortcut template for Home Screen widgets, Lock Screen buttons, and Action Button toggles with spoken feedback.
  • Physical NFC Tap: Create a background automation on your iPhone to clock in whenever you touch an NFC desk tag or card badge.
  • Developer REST API: Trigger sub-500ms clock events from scripts, webhooks, or Raspberry Pi / ESP32 hardware using POST /api/public/v1/clock.
